There's also the realisation of how badly tooled up I am. I am currently exhibiting a serious lack in imagination. Haven't come up with any creative solutions yet.

I have shown myself to be extremely wanting in willpower. My discipline level is dodgy. In short, I am my own worst enemy.

That's the bad news.

The good news is that I am making microscopic progress. One…

“She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines. She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn't beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul. She is beautiful.”

- F. Scott Fitzgerald, “The Beautiful and the Damned”

Two things in the last 24 hours inspired today's quote. Late afternoon, yesterday, I saw a girl I knew back…

"...

Pay the price of success in ounces of discipline rather than in pounds of regret.

"
- from a prayer that my wife says almost every morning.

This line from the prayer book always sounded cautionary rather than a plea to the Almighty.

“If we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go into business, because we'd be cynical...

You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.”

- Ray Bradbury (essayist and playwright)

“Pitiful is the person who is afraid of taking risks. Perhaps this person will never be disappointed or disillusioned; perhaps she won’t suffer the way people do when they have a dream to follow. But when that person looks back – and at some point everyone looks back – she will hear her heart saying, “What have you done with the miracles that God planted in your days? What have you done with the talents God bestowed on you? You buried yourself in a cave because you were fearful of losing those talents. So this is your heritage; the certainty…

- Colin Wilson

This quote was shared by a friend sometime last month. I've been saving it for the right occasion. This would be that week. Everyday this week, I'll share a quote to do with Risk. Hopefully, it'll have the desired effect on us all.

PLUS, I'm going…

"The smile on my face doesn't mean my life is perfect. It means I appreciate what I have and what GOD has blessed me with"

- anonymous (maybe you know who said this, feel free to say)

Taking it to church today. Been a rough few months but God has been good. Untimely death, unemployment ('er, thought that was the point of this blog?' you say. "Shut up", I say) and other dramas. I remain, miraculously on my feet and perhaps more so, I have this feeling of being blessed. This is most broke I've ever been. Ever. Somehow, there's an intermittent calmness.

It's okay to have a job IF you love it. If you don't… Well, 40hrs plus, a week, is a lot of time to spend on something you have no other vested interest in than a paycheck.
